The Cocktail Party
We all converged back to the Walden Yacht Club for the Cocktail Party. Everyone had spruced up and changed into their finery. It was fun seeing everyone all gussied up. We overheard the groups around the tables talking about the day's meetings and also about the past week's Pre-National training. The tension was beginning to rise in the room, though, as people realized that tomorrow morning would come quickly and the 2012 National Retriever Championship would soon begin.
The food was really good and comments were made that this was one of the best meals people had had at a National in recent memory. Besides two Mexican-style buffets loaded with all the hand-made guacamole you could eat--YUM--there was an amazing chocolate fountain--almost two feet tall--with so many things to dip in it, including strawberries, angel food cake, coconut marshmallow, rice crispy treats and more....
As the crowd was enjoying it's dinner, it was announced that there may be a card under your chair which was a gift certificate from Molly Schlachter from MCS Photography. The crowd rose to its feet and looked under their chairs. Steve Carr and Gary Zellner began to call out the raffle tickets. Prizes were donated by Avery Sporting Dog.
