Back To The Line..... 5. FC-AFC Atlasta Winner “Lassie” LF, Scott Harp

Flyer: the flyer went straight up in the air and landed close to the gunners. Lassie came close to bird on the way out but missed it and put on a large hunt. Retired Gun: went in under the arc and made a loop deep to come back and pick up the bird. Blind:very nice job.

The test was called to completion at 5:10 pm. After dog #20 received a No-Bird. A Test Dog will run at 6:45 am tomorrow and the test will start with dog #21.

Test Condition Update

The wind has died down a little bit this afternoon, although it is still blowing steadily. It has changed the bird that was giving the dogs the most difficulty from the flyer to the retired bird. The gunners appreciate the break, too... The cloud cover is fairly even and the day has brightened up a bit.

Flyer: nice job. Retired Gun: went out under the arc, turned and went up the hill to the left and came back down to the quick. Blind: one whistle on the front into the water, three on the back side to completion for a respectable blind.

Gun Change...

There will be a gun change after Dog #103. We always think this will be an opportunity to get caught up with our posts or even get ahead, but it rarely happens that way. These gun changes are fine-tuned and happen seamlessly. Oh well, good for this team of gunners and not so good for us.

Test Conditions Update...

The rain has stopped and the wind has died down to produce a better flyer for the competitors.  The sky is dim with cloud cover and the dogs seem to be having an easier time picking out the handlers on the blind.  These conditions have been consistent for the last five dogs.

After 2 No-Birds Flyer: Ali had a big hunt on an exceptionally long flyer.  Retired Gun: first dog of the day to jump the cover and scoop the bird up. Blind: one whistle to the pond, Ali got his toes wet and required only one more whistle to completion. Nice job.

Poor Gunners

The wind is not being kind to the gunners.  Our flyers have now started to land in unpredicted areas.  They are doing their best but these conditions are making it very challenging for the dogs and gunners.

Gunner Change

Wow!!! It feels like we are at a NASCAR event.  The 4-wheelers raced out to the stations and expeditiously changed out gunners.  These guys look like they have done this a time or two.

Hang On To Your Hats......

The clouds have moved in and the wind is blowing like a storm is rolling in.  It is making it difficult for the gunners to accurately drop the flyer.  We are starting to get no-birds and flyers are landing all over.
