Test Dogs for the 8th Series

The first Test Dog was Hannah being handled by Marshall Stone. Hannah came to the line at 4:13 pm.  She had many whistles to get into the water and refused every cast toward the water.  Hannah was excused and asked to be Picked Up. Hannah ended the blind at 4:16 pm.

The second Test Dog was Chili handled by Mike Boley. Test Dog 2 came to the line at 4:17: Chili ran the land with water in mind, he tried to enter the water early and was given a cast away from the water.  Chili got to the boat and needed several whistles to get in the water. Then he needed a couple more to stay in the water along the shore and had two at the end to complete the blind at 4:22 pm.

8th Series Waterblind

The sun is high in the western sky and the mat faces the Southwest.  The wind is gently blowing out of the North, Northwest toward the shore making this blind cross wind & down wind at times.  This Water Blind is a shoreline blind with a 130 yard land entry. The Handlers may not leave the mat to handle until the dog enters the water.  There is a small point on the left shore and just past it is a boat half way out  to the end of the blind that is over turned and the entry point for the dog to get in the water. Once the dog enters the water the line to the blind is only about 25-35 yards off the shoreline in the water.  This is a very temping place for the dogs to be, because they will continually want to get out of the water and run the shore. The bird is planted on the dam of the pond and is a drake mallard.  This Water Blind is estimated at 265 yards and is running at 5 mins per dog.
