6th Series -- Land Blind
The 6th Series is a no see-um Land Blind of 350 yards. The blind has three major components but includes many small factors. The handler stands on the mat facing Northeast with a small mound blocking the dog's view. The wind is blowing out of the East across the field where the 5th Series Land Quad was located making this blind slightly cross-wind. This field will have lots of bird scent and dog scent to distract the dogs on their 350 yard line traveled thru the field. There is also a gunner sitting to the far left by a mound in the fall area of one of the 5th series retired marks. The gunner has no dry pop or throw he is just sitting in a chair visible to the dog once they go over the first small mound. Once the dog crosses part of the starting mound, the handler is allowed to go to the top of the mound. The dog proceeds toward a road in which they have to angle with a brush pile off to the left that is scented with duck scent, the dog is then required to skim past the edge of a large mound and hit a set of "goalpost" trees to the left of the tree line about 3/4 of the way out from the starting point. Then the dogs must punch out in the field to a small bush marking the end of the blind to pick up a rooster pheasant. This is a fast paced blind that the handler can not take for granted given all of the minute factors and key components along with the wind to create lots of reasons for a dog to veer off line. The time per dog is averaging 3 minutes.

Blue line is the line to the blind. 1st green line is the no see um mound, 2nd green line is the key hole in the trees and the white dot is the gunner sitting in the field
