The 10th Series Test Description

The 10th and final Series of the 2012 National Retriever Championship is a Land Water Quad with Long Retired, a Boat Bird, a Rooster Pheasant Flyer, & a Hen Pheasant Flyer.  This is the ultimate test in marking, memory, stamina, & perseverance.  The ultimate retriever will have to prove their merit in this test taking 14 mins per dog to complete.

The test is being run off a small mound facing the North, the sun is bright with clear skies and the temperature is delightful at 66 degrees.  The wind is steady out of the Northeast making this test slightly crosswind.

The first gun to go off is the Retired bird (R) measuring 350 yards they are throwing a drake mallard to the right on the same point the gunners retire.  The next bird to be shot is the boat bird (BB).  It is a hen mallard measuring at 165 yards thrown to the right in a large group of drenched seedy bean trees.  Then the dog must swing to the left and watch the next gun to be shot which is a rooster pheasant flyer (MF) measuring at 173 yards thrown to the left on the face of a valley, landing deep of the trees.  The final bird to be shot is another flyer measuring 186 yards shot to the left and this bird is a hen pheasant (LF).  This bird lands just deep of a small mound that the dogs must maneuver to get to the bird.

Please note that the birds and wind are not correct on the drawing but the distances and direction of the birds thrown are correct.
